Modern mass education was designed in 1763 by Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi, then scaled nationwide in early 1800s Prussia. The goal was not enlightenment. It was efficiency. Prussia needed an army, a bureaucracy, and a workforce that would not question authority.

Easy to see. Easy to manage.
Timed lessons
Efficiency over understanding.
Standardised content
The same for everyone. No room for individuality.
Exams and ranking
Sort the obedient from the rest.
Obedience rewarded
Questioning authority discouraged.
This model spread across Europe, then the world.
It was never about helping children become their best.
It was about controlling the future workforce.
THE SAME SYSTEM. DIFFERENT CENTURY.
The world has changed. Our schools haven’t.
We no longer need workers who can follow instructions.
We need people who can solve problems, think critically,
adapt, create, and lead.
But walk into most schools and you’ll see the same
structure, the same methods, and the same priorities
as 200 years ago.
